 Vladislav Peruta is an emerging impressionist painter in keeping with the artistic traditions of his native country and Russia. He studied with F. Zakharov in Crimea and later at the Kiev Academy of Art 2002-2008. With vigorous brushstrokes and a subtle palette this artist proves again and again to be among the most promising of his generation.

Colin Page has emerged as on of America’s finest impressionist in a very short time. He studied at the Baltimore School for the Arts, the Rhode Island School of Design and the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. Since 2005 the impressive list of solo and group exhibitions includes the Cape Cod Museum of Art, the Copley Society, Boston, the Baltimore Museum of Art and a host of prestigious galleries. Recently Page has had his first book ‘Painting and Writing’ published. “Deep Thoughts”

 Kommunar S. Berkuta studied at the Dnepropetrovsk Art Institute 1945-49 and the Kharkov Art Institute 1949-55. He is a very well known Ukrainian/Russian artists of the Soviet period and was commissioned for large works by the authorities. Berkuta began exhibiting in 1955 and continued throughout his life to exhibit at the prestigious ‘All Union’ exhibitions. After 1955 his was appointed as a professor at the Dnepropetrovsk Art Institute where he came to influence a generation of young artist. His name is included in the important book’ Russian and Soviet Painters’ by British scholar Matthew Cullerne Bown. Works by this fine impressionist hang in several Ukrainian museums.

 Anisimov Tikhonovich was born in the village of Solovyovka, Belogorodskaya Region of Russia, and studied at the prestigious Kharkov Art Institure 1964-1969. After 1969 he became a professor at the institute. After 1975 Tikhonovich maintained studio in the city of Kremenchug, Ukraine. 1986 he became a member of the ‘Union of Artists of Ukraine’ and exhibited at regional and ‘All Ukraine’ exhibitions. Works by Tikhonovich are in fine collections in Europe and the US.

Steve Songer studied at the Utah State University and at the Royal Academy of Art in London. Emphasizing on bold brushwork, rich texture and luminous colors he creates images of nature and human activity of strong appeal as in this brilliant work from the area where he resides and keeps studio. For many years Songer has exhibited at prestigious venues winning numerous awards along the way including: 1st prize/Eccles Statewide Competition, 1st prize/St. George Art Festival, Award of Merit/Utah Watercolor Society, permanent representation/Utah State Division of Fine Arts etc.

Vasili graduated from the Kiev Art Institute in 1984 and soon was admitted into the prestigious Ukrainian Artist’s Union (1989) He has been a professor at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kiev where his talents for impressionist painting has inspired the new generation of painters. This prominent artist is included in the important book ‘Russian and Soviet Painters’ by British scholar Matthew Cullerne Bown.

Harald Kjaer studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Art in Copenhagen and exhibited at the prestigious Charlottenborg Palace after 1920 as well as numerous other major exhibitions and galleries. In 1920 he was awarded the Soedring Gold Medal by the Academy. Harald Kjaer’s works are represented in the National Museum of Frederiksborg. His favorite subject matter was deer or cattle grazing on green meadows and very few painters manage like Kjaer to capture movement and posture in a distinct yet impressionistic manner. “Academy Study of a Young Man”

Poul Jerndorff studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Art in Copenhagen and exhibited at the prestigious Charlottenborg Palace after 1911 as well as at a host of major national and international exhibitions. In 1914 Poul Jerndorff ws awarded the Academy Gold Medal, called the Eckersberg Medal. Works by this nominated artist hang in the Johan Hansen Collection, the Art Museum of Malmo (Sweden) and the Art Museum of Maribo. This artist is included in all major sources of international art reference.

Yuli Yatchenko was born in the Chernigiv Region of Ukraine and is considered one of the leading artist’s of his time. He is a member of the National Union of Artists and has expanded his career into teaching art as a professor at the Kiev Art Institute and the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture. He has also been heading the Department of Art within the Ministry of Culture in Ukraine. Yatchenko is included in the important book ‘Russian and Soviet Artists’ by British Scholar Matthew Cullerne Bown.

  

 “At a Distance”

Valentin Taranenko was born in Lugansk (Voroshylovograd). In 1960 he graduated from Kharkov Art Institute where G. Bondarenko and V. Myronenko were his professors. Taranenko quickly became known for his impressionistic depictions of industrial motifs of which there were an abundance during the Soviet era. With a unique sense of masses, light and color the artist lets us discover qualities otherwise bypassed or ignored. This particular work is nothing but a small gem. Works by this nominated impressionist are found in several museums.

 Theodorus van Oorschot exhibited widely in many of the most renowned galleries of Europe.  Here is a fine example of Russian Impressionism at its very best. It depicts the Engineering Palace in then Leningrad, now St. Petersburg, set in a sun filled park environment behind a lovely pond with swans. Sergei Kosov is a well exhibited Russian artist whose works are featured by a host of international galleries including ‘The Russian Art Gallery’ in Moscow. He is admired for his landscapes, winter scenes and St. Petersburg motifs.

 Alexander Kechedzdi was born in Mariupol city, Ukraine, and studied at the Odessa Art College 1937-1941 with D. Kraynev and E. Bukovetsky. He began exhibiting in 1956 and became a prominent member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine after 1970. Kecehdzhi lived and painted in Mariupol and also developed into being a highly regarded Monumentalist. This nominated artist is included in the important book ‘Russian and Soviet Painters 1900-1980’s’ by British Scholar Matthew Cullerne Bown.

Here is a wonderful almost academic work by legendary Emile Gruppé depicting the morning light on Gloucester’s docks with a well structured balancing of the masses and dramatic contrasts. Vladimir Vlasov studied at the Art Institute of Odessa, Ukraine, 1942-1947. He continued his studies at the legendary Art Institute of Moscow (the Surikov Institute) until 1953. Vladimir Vlasov thereafter began exhibiting and was soon admitted into the ‘All Union’ exhibitions, which is the highest distinction to be bestowed upon a Soviet artist. He is mostly known for seascapes and coastal sceneries like this particularly poetic impressionistic gem which in a few brushstrokes captures the very essence of light and depth. Vladimir Vlasov is included in the important book ‘Russian and Soviet Artists’ by British scholar Matthew C. Bown.

Here is an intriguing study for a portrait by a distinguished Soviet artist in keeping with the Russian impressionist tradition. Nikolai Dubina studied at the Art Institute of Kiev and later on maintained studio in Donetsk/Stalino, Ukraine. He is known for his ability to catch the personality of the sitter with vigorous brush strokes and intense color. Keith Ward started as an illustrator and his artistic talent soon propelled him into a remarkable career as such. Later in life he focused on ‘Plein Air’ painting and became on of California’s best landscape artists. His mastery of structure and color relationships and his quick and vivid perception of the essence of his subject matter are the touchstones of his success. Works by Ward have for many years been sold through the famed Stewart Galleries in Palm Springs. This magnificent work by Ward fully demonstrates his refined sense of light and color. “St. Petersburg Harbor”

 Viktor Korovin was born in then Leningrad (St. Petersburg) where he enrolled in the prestigious Serov Art College. After graduation in 1960 he studied at the Repin Institute until 1963. In 1966 he was titled ‘Honored Artist of the Soviet Union’ and was receiving significant commissions from the authorities. Known mostly as a landscape painter, he’s city and harbor scenes from St. Petersburg also have commanded great attention. Works by this nominated Russian Impressionist hang in Tretyakov State Museum (Moscow), the State Russian Museum(St. Petersburg) the Marine Museum and the City Museum (St. Petersburg).

 

 “In the Bay of Naples”

Frants Landt started drawing ships as a child and as a young man pursued a career as a seaman and later a pilot. He is said to always have kept an easel and his oils ready in the pilot boat. Later on he dedicated most of his time to the painting and developed into being one of his country’s most popular and  prolific marine painter exhibiting widely even at the prestigious Charlottenborg Palace. In 1936 HRM King Christian appointed Landt to follow him on trips with the Royal Yacht Dannebrog to Greenland and Iceland.
