| Realism “Summer Pastures” By Carl F. Bartsch (Danish, 1829-1908) 17” x 24”, oil on canvas, signed ca. 1880 Carl Bartsch studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Art in Copenhagen and exhibited at the prestigious Charlottenborg Palace after 1843. 1852-64 he worked for the Royal Copenhagen porcelain manufacturer creating some of their most delightful designs. Carl Bartsch is widely known for his wonderful depictions of cows and other domestic animals some of which have found their way into the most distinctive collections: the Art Museum of Ribe, the City Museum of Copenhagen, the National Art Association etc.

SOLD “Still Life with Fruits and Flowers” By Ernestine von Kirchsberg (Austrian, 1857-1924) 8” x 12”, oil on panel, signed lower right corner Ernestine von Kirchsberg was born in Verona (Italy) and studied in Graz with Baron Hermann von Konigsbrun. Later on she attended the Academy of Fine Art in Vienna. She finished her training at the Art Academy in Munich and started exhibiting in 1881. In 1882 on of her works was acquired by the Imperial Art Collection. In 1893 she exhibited in Chicago where she was awarded a medal. The popularity of her paintings especially among the nobility propelled her career and exhibitions in Vienna, Munich, Berlin, Prague and other European cities. This charming Impressionist gem of a painting fully demonstrates von Kirchsberg’s sophistication and sensitivity. 
“Male Statue, Royal Academy 1882” By Christian Molsted (Danish, 1862-1930) 24” x 18”, oil on card, signed. Christian Molsted studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Art, during which period this fine painting was created, and exhibited at the prestigious Charlottenborg Palace after 1885 as well as at a host of other major national and international exhibitions. In 1889 and 1899 he was awarded the Neuhausen Gold Medal. After the Academy Molsted turned into being a much admired marine painter and a museum for him was established in his home town of Dragor.  “Aranella” By Albert Lynch (Peruvian/French, 1851-1912) 16.5” x 23.5”, oil on canvas, signed and inscribed ‘ARANELLE, Cannes, Avril 1891’ Albert Lynch studied at the l’Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and with Gabriel Ferrier (1847-1914). He received the Gold Medal in 1892 and 1900 (World Exhibition) and became honorary ‘Chevalier de la Legion d’honneur’ in 1901. The Art Museum of Sydney (Australia) acquired his work. Lynch is known for his many depictions of young ladies in daily life situations, genre paintings and occasionally as here maritime motifs. Aranella is said to be the artist’s own yacht. In 1997 a painting by Albert Lynch fetched $ 167,500 at Sotheby’s in New York. Albert Lynch is included in all major sources of art reference.
“Through the Sunlit Wood” By Siegfried Hass (Danish, 1848-1908) 33” x 24.5”, oil on canvas, signed Siegfried Hass exhibited at the prestigious Charlottenborg Palace in Copenhagen after 1883 as well as at many venues especially in Germany. Some sources of art reference refers to Hass as of German origin. He is well known for detailed and luminous landscapes and seascapes many of which were painted in Norway. This painting, painted around 1880, beautifully demonstrates ‘ Golden Age’ style of this well listed artist. “Fishing in Rough Seas” By George Vincent (British, 1796-1831) 16” x 24”, signed lower left corner, oil on relined canvas, antique frame Here is a fine British seascape of extraordinary quality by one of her most noted marine painters. Several smaller and larger boats are negotiating the rough seas between the harbor, where many boats have sought refuge, and a mountainous coastline in the background. The painting is highly detailed and shows people aboard the vessels adding to the drama of the motif. George Vincent exhibited at the Royal Academy and Suffolk Streetuntil 1830 and works by his hand hang in the most distinguished collections such as: the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Art Museums of Nottingham and Sheffield and museums in the US. 
“Heavy Skies” By Niels Peter Rasmusen (Danish, 1847-1918) 11.5” x 17.5”, oil on canvas, signed and dated 1881, exhibition label verso Niels Peter Rasmussen studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Art in Copenhagen and exhibited at the prestigious Charlottenborg Palace after 1870. He is widely known for his depictions of wildlife, plants and as in this case evocative landscapes. Due to the fact that most of his oeuvre is dated on a Sunday, he is often called ‘Sunday Rasmussen’. Paintings by this excellent artist of the ‘Golden Age’ tradition are becoming increasingly in demand at international auction houses reflected in substantial auction prices.  “Portrait of a Horse” Attributed to Abraham Cooper RA (British, 1787-1869) 17” x 21”, oil on relined canvas, inscribed ‘A(?)… Cooper on original label verso and titled ‘Portrait of a Horse’ Here is an equestrian painting of superb quality. Abraham Cooper was one the most well known horse painters of his time but painted also historical battle scenes. John Frederick Herring Sr. (1795-1865) was one of his students and their style of painting is very similar. Abraham Cooper is included in all major sources of art reference as well as ‘British Equestrian Artists’ by Antique Collectors’ Club. “View of the Tuskar Light and Saltee Islands with the Dublin and London Steam Marine Co’s Paddle Steamer Shannon” By John Lynn (British, exhibited 1826-38) 29” x 46”, oil on relined canvas, signed and dated 1827 lower right corner. Labels verso from THE PARKER GALLERY, London, title label by the artist dated 1826 plus restoration label dated 1948. John Lynn was a much sought after London painter of shipping and coastal scenes. He exhibited at the British Institution and the Society of British Artists, Suffolk Street. Lynn is a rare artist but according to Brook Hart his works are of ‘an exceptionally high quality’. At international auctions paintings by this important artist have fetched prices in excess of $ 60,000. Additional literature accompanies this exquisite and historic work. 
“Reservations” By Day Shubin (Chinese, 1958-2005) 30” x 24”, oil on canvas, signed Provenance: the Chris Coyne Collection Dai Shubin graduated from the Chinese Art Institute in Beijing 1986. Being admired for his sensitivity and artistic mastery he was soon admitted into the Chinese Artists Association, the Sichuan Artists Association and the Lhasa Artists Association. In Lhasa he became a member of the Tibetan Folklore Artists Group. He exhibited at the First Chinese oil panting Exhibition, the Chinese 17th New Art Exhibition, the Chinese 10th Art Exhibition and a host of galleries in the US, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong etc. This painting was acquired by Mr. Chris Coyne directly from the artist in Lhasa, Tibet, in his effort to create a unique international art collection of the finest humanitarian and artistic qualities.

By Poul Steffensen (Danish, 1866-1923) 13.5" x 19", oil on canvas, signed and dated 1910 Poul Steffensen studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Art in Copenhagen and exhibited at the prestigious Charlottenborg Palace after 1892 as well as at the Autumn Salon and in Stockholm 1897. In 1895 he was awarded the Neuhausen Medal. Steffensen was very prolific and popular, also highly regarded as an illustratorof children’s books. Works by this nominated artist hang in the Art Museum of Aalborg, the Art Museum of Randers, the Museum of Bornholm and the Royal Naval Museum of Kronborg. "On a summer’s Day" by Niels Walseth (Danish, 1914-2001) 20" x 28”, oil on canvas, signed with pseudonym Niels Walseth was a landscape painter of great skill and mastery who followed in the footsteps of legendary Peder Monsted (1859-1941) and H. A. Brendekilde (1857-1942). He would often be seeking out his motifs traveling in Austria, South Germany, Sweden and Switzerland but he was at his best when depicting the rural beauty of his native country. Works by this prolific and popular artist have been sold for prices in excess of $ 3,700 according to Davenport's listing. “Chickens in a Stable” By J. D. Sorver (Continental School, 19th century) 10” x 14”, oil on board, signed lower right Here is a lovely and highly desirable motif by a well known painter of poultry and domestic animals. "A Sunlit Park" by Kai Drews (Danish,1884-1964) 20" x 28"; oil on canvas; signed. Here is a wonderfully detailed work by Kai Drews who exhibited in Copenhagen, Gothenburg and Aarhus at major exhibitions. He developed into being a very popular and prolific artist whose works once acquired by a young person would often be the start of a life long collecting experience. This is how Hans Slyngbom expresses it in his book 'Danish Artists'. Drews mastered the depiction of the Nordic landscape through the ever changing seasons paying great attention to detail and the reflections of light. Kai Drews is well listed and included i major sources of art reference such as Davenport’s, ADEC, artnet.com etc. “Pastures by the Sea” By Gunnar Bundgaard (Danish, 1920-2005) 20.5” x 26.5”; oil on canvas; signed. Gunnar Bundgaard studied at the Gronvold School of Painting (Copenhagen) and later on at the Academy of Fine Art in Stockholm. He exhibited widely and was popular with many of the important art dealers because of his naturalistic and colorful approach to his motifs. One exhibition curator characterized Bundgaard as the Last of the Golden Age Painters. Works by this well nominated and well listed artist have fetched substantial prices on international art auctions. It is also of special interest that HRM Queen Margrethe of Denmark appointed Bundgaard to portray HRH Crown Prince Frederik and HRH Prince Joachim of Denmark. |
