Sascha Tebo (Thebeaud) Haitian, 1934-2004 ‘La Toile Jaune’

30 x 40 in. encaustic with beeswax, oil and pigment on canvas, signed and inscribed ‘Haiti IV -63’

Born to an affluent family in Haiti Sascha Tebo studied in Montreal and later in Miami. He was trained as an architect and his career brought him into contact with among others Le Corbusier, Marcel Breuer and Oscar Niemeyer. As an artist he exhibited widely and often showcasing an oeuvre of striking spiritual complexity. In the late 1950’s Tebo participated in a worldwide exhibition with Jasper Johns, Larry Rivers and Robert Rauschenberg. Works by this important artist are currently held by prestigious galleries specializing in Caribbean and Haitian art.
