 “Serenade”

By Anders Hegelund (Danish, born 1938)

31” x 23”, oil on canvas, signed and dated verso

Following Anders Hegelund’s most recent one man show at ‘C7 Gallery’ in the heart of Copenhagen Frederick Fine Art is proud to introduce selected examples of his oeuvre to the American public. Well known also as an architect and designer Hegelund has been a prominent member of the vibrant artistic community in his native country since his early exhibitions of expressionistic landscapes and figural paintings in North Jutland. In his capacity of being one time professor at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and long standing board member of the National Danish Foundation for the Arts, Hegelund has expanded and refined his creativity into the highly intricate and unique ‘Concrete Abstraction’ which this work demonstrates so boldly. Anders Hegelund is included in ‘Weilbach’, the official dictionary of Danish artists.

"Composition"
By Elmer Hemmingsholt (Danish, born 1925)
20" x 16"; oil on canvas; signed and dated (19)78
Elmer Hemmingsholt belonged to the influential group of artists around the association "PRO" which he was a cofounder of in 1962. His work has centered around a series of "opstillinger" (still lives) where the essence of abstraction is confronted in a dynamic almost constructivist way that can be regarded as a natural development of the 'COBRA" tendencies of the 1950's. With self chosen limitation of the number of colors involved Hemmeingsholt explores his own depth and sensitivity thus etablishing a new and potent reality. Elmer Hemmingsholt has exhibited at the prestigious Charlottenborg Palace in Copenhagen as well as at a host of other major exhibitions. Works by his hand hang in the Carlsberg Foundation, The Association for Danish Art, the Technical College in Randers and several important private collections.
