"Evening Landscape"

This painting was exhibited at Charlottenborg Palace in Copenhagen 1965. A newspaper clip attached to the back tells us, that the art critic found 'Evening Landscape' to be Rothschild's best painting, reminiscent of the French expressionist Rouault (1871-1958). Rothschild studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Art in Copenhagen and at the Accademia de Belle Arti in Milano. He exhibited widely all over Europe and was awarded Diplome d'Honneur in Biarritz 1970. Also he received multiple grants including the National Art Foundation.
“Configuration” By Patrick Boudon (French, 1944-1988)

Patrick Boudon studied at the Beaux-Arts in Paris and had his first exhibition with the legendary Galerie Raymond Duncan (brother of Isadora Duncan) in Paris 1963. In 1966 he represented France at the 'Cite des Arts'. In 1968 he exhibited in New York for the first time (Gallery Michel Fortin) and from then on and to his much too early death in 1988 Boudon took on international Career, exhibiting in Grand Palais (Paris), Centre d'Arts Rive Gauche (Paris), Museum of Bahia (Brazil), Salon de Bastille (Paris) and a host of significant galleries. A book about his oeuvre (Dinarte Editions, Bruxelles, 1988)accompanies this important work which is reminiscent of de Kooning and the European ‘Cobra’ Movement.

In his capacity of one time professor at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and long standing board member of the National Danish Foundation for the Arts, Hegelund has expanded and refined his creativity into the highly intricate and unique ‘Concrete Abstraction’ so boldly demonstrated by these works. “Between Sun and Moon”

Andrei Gennadiev graduated from the Leningrad Academy of Art and became a founding member of the famous non-conformist ‘St. Petersburg Group’ established in 1964 where he exhibited his work. He now lives and works in Helsinki, Finland. Gennadiev is one of his generation’s foremost artists and works by his hand hang in the State Tretyakov Museum (Moscow), the State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg), the Pushkin Museum of Fine Art, the Metropolitan Museum (New York) and the Columbus Museum of Arts (USA) to name a few.

Lars Hegelund graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Art in Copenhagen and has for many years been active within art, design and architecture in his native country as well as in the US. He has received significant grants and awards from the Ministry of Cultural Affairs in Denmark (The National Foundation of Art) and has lectured regularly at major European universities such as Oxford and Cambridge in the UK. He has had several books published as well as Television productions for the National Danish Television. In this work Lars Hegelund explores subconscious boundaries and multicultural connections.

“My Friend” By Claus Jeppesen (Danish, b. 1958)

Shuttling between reality and subconscious destinations Claus Jeppesen creates evocative dialogues of bold color and fluent movement thus opening up to his world of ever changing and engaging imagery. Born in Switzerland Jeppesen showed artistic talent early on, leading him later on into co-creating animated movies for the Disney Corporation. An emerging figure within the Scandinavian Abstract Expressionism Claus Jeppesen continues and expands the impulsive nerve of the 1950’s and 60’s famed COBRA group in an oeuvre that has already been exhibited in his native country, Berlin and the United States. Frederick Fine Art Gallery is proud here to present one of Claus Jeppesen’s newest and most daring works.
“Vital Details” By Knud Jans (Danish, 1916-1985)

Knud Jans started exhibiting with the artist’s group named ‘Klyngen’ 1945-47. After 1947 he exhibited at the prestigious Charlottenborg Palace, the Art Museum of North Jutland 1975 an 78, Copenhagen Cultural Foundation 1976, in Munich 1964, in Prague 1965 and numerous other major exhibitions. In 1983 he was awarded a major grant by the National Art Foundation. Knud Jans follows in the footsteps of the internationally known ‘COBRA’ group of artists and was strongly influenced by Asger Jorn (1914-1973). His work could be characterized as ‘Expressionistic Abstraction’ both the paintings and his large production of spirited ceramics.

This is an intriguing and well composed work by Meixner who for decades was an art professor at the Iowa State University. She exhibited widely and her career brought her into contact with 20th century icons such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Marc Chagal, Max Weber etc. Meixner is well represented in books on American Art including 'Who was Who in American Art'. This particular painting, which actually consists of two joined sections, was exhibited at the 42nd Annual Fall Show at the Sioux City Art Center.

Jan Wolf was born in Ropa, Poland, and studied at the Art Academy of Poznan. In 1968 he started exhibiting in Poland, but soon Sweden would be the country of choice for him to show his work. Since 1982 Wolf has lived and kept studio in Sweden and he is now exhibiting all over Europe.

This is a highly interesting work by Robert Swartburg who is mainly known as one of the leading architects in the Art Deco movement of Miami. Swartburg has in the 1950's designed the Delano Hotel, Hotel Marseilles, the Bass Museum, the Miami Civic Center, the Vagabond Motel and several other landmarks in Miami and Miami Beach.
