James P. Kerr was born in Buffalo, NY, in 1953. Early on he showed a keen interest in drawing and painting and was at a young age apprenticed to the prominent painter Laslo Szabo (1892-1970). Studies continued with Carl Illig (1910-1987). After 1970 Kerr has been teaching art himself at a host of venues. A unique talent for captivating the movement, the light and the poetry of what is in front of him has propelled James Kerr into an impressive sequence of exhibitions including more than 25 one man shows. James Kerr became Exhibiting Member of Buffalo Fine Arts League, NY in 1971 and Exhibiting Member of North Shore Art Association, MA in 1976.

James Kerr has been selected by the US State Department to participate in the ‘Art in Embassies’ program, a world wide exhibition of fine art in our foreign embassies, and is continuously represented by leading art galleries including Frederick Fine Art Gallery in Fort Lauderdale, the Gardner-Colby Gallery in Naples, FL and the Meghan-Candler Gallery in Vero Beach, FL.  We consider James Kerr on of the nation’s finest figurative artists and are proud to present his always unique and uplifting imagery.
