French Art Nouveau Japonaiserie Bamboo Tea Table by Perret et Vibert, Paris

This is indeed a rare find by Perret et Vibert. Maison Bambous in Paris. Towards the end on the 19th century Chinoiserie and Japonaiserie became the trend of home decor and Maison de Bambous a leading purveyor to royals and aristocrats. The table features a top and a lower tier in the shape of relief carved and lacquered Japanese style trays with flowers and leaves in different shades of color and gold. The asymmetrical organic details of the design reflect the equally popular Art Nouveau style while the sculptural bamboo frame and legs complete the artistic composition.
