Aleksei Solodovnikov was born on September 24th, 1928 in Tokarevo, Yaroslavl Region, Russia. He graduated from Yaroslavl Art College in 1948 and continued his studies at the prestigious Art Institute of Kiev with V. Kostetsky and S. Hrihoryev until 1954. Member of the Ukrainian Union of Artists this fine impressionist has focused on depictions of the life in the collective farms, portraits and landscapes. Works by his hand can be found in several Ukrainian art museums and in private collections worldwide. This artist is included in ‘Russian and Soviet Painters’ by British scholar Matthew Cullerne Bown.
